REALITY CHECK
Your life, your aspirations and dreams fade away as time passes. You still don't feel great, you still don't eat well, you still work the job you despise and you constantly whine about the same things without ever changing your life or accomplishing the goals you so desperately wanted for yourself.
You are DONE up until each trial ends in the same way.
Until another wave of inspiration and drive appears and you are prepared to "start over again," even though you already know (and likely believe) that you won't succeed, you are still willing to give it your all because THIS TIME is the ONE.
THE SISYPHUS MYTH
Sisyphus became a symbol of eternal punishment by being forced to drag a huge rock uphill for all eternity for whatever sin he committed. This is a metaphor I use frequently to illustrate the punishment we subject ourselves to when we repeatedly do the same action in the hopes of getting a different result. What constitutes "insanity," according to Einstein.
IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!
We have all been there, I can assure you because I have been there. I always wanted to be more flexible, read more, get up earlier, meditate, write, have clearer skin, better my nutrition, increase my exercise, wear things I wanted to wear "when I'll have dropped the weight," etc. Whatever it was, it was on my list.
In January, gyms are full; by February, they are deserted. Over 67% of gym subscriptions are inactive. Why do you suppose? because people are unable to establish routines and habits. That's how easy it is. They ride the enthusiasm wave when they decide to start a new habit, but when it comes time to put their plan into action, everything falls apart like a soufflé.
REASONS WHY YOU ALWAYS FAIL
HERE IS HOW I LEARNT
8 years ago, I met someone on top of their health, and I was so impressed by their willpower and consistency in their choices and healthy routine, that I became genuinely curious about habits in general.
I started reverse-engineering my own habits. Because the fact of the matter is that I already had sticking habits. We are routine animals! I was astonished to see how easy my routines already were and how simply I would execute these things without even thinking of them. But these habits were either not really serving me or my life goals, or completely screwing up my chances to get where I wanted in life. However, the way they were sticking intrigued me.
So I decided to study and absorb tons of books, documentaries, podcasts and studies from the best authors, experts and scientists. I became passionate by science and specially neuroplasticity (go tell my High School Latin teacher that, she won't believe you!). I finally understood the secret behind all our habits (good and bad), how they are formed and how they stick.
I became an EXPERT in HABIT FORMING.
I started designing my own routines around my life goals. These routines contained habits that were acquired slowly through baby steps and different stages I tailored and put together.
Today, my routines and habits are solid and serve me. They EVOLVE and are adapted to my lifestyle, where I live and my needs. They make me a happier person everyday, getting me closer to my goals, keeping me healthy and having a ripple effect on all other aspects of my life. People often say I am a nerd and very strict, although it might be true, I always reply that I have programmed my brain this way and don't need any motivation or energy to keep doing my habits. They became who I am, an automatic internal software that runs in the background and serves me everyday.
After advising a few friends on their own routines and being an inspiration for my loved ones, I became a certified health and wellness coach so I can now offer my precious knowledge and experience to everyone on a global scale.
